Boston Red Sox: Acquire RHP Andrew Cashner From the Baltimore Orioles
With star Nathan Eovaldi on the injured list, the Boston Red Sox were actively searching for their new ace. Well, they found him on the Baltimore Orioles.
The right-handed stud Andrew Cashner was traded to the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. He will likely take the fifth spot in the Red Sox starting rotation because Steven Wright was placed on the 10-day IL with a bruised right foot.
Cashner was originally recruited in 2010 by the Chicago Cubs. This guy is a veteran and knows what he’s doing which is exactly what they need to bring to the team right now.
Cashner has an overall 3.83 ERA for the 2019 season with the Baltimore Orioles. He also has a 9-3 record. Manager Alex Cora says he’s excited for Cashner to play because he has a great fastball and changeup.

This was one of the best roster moves for this franchise because this is what they have been missing since March. Too many people are saying they are “too tired from winning last year” and that “it’s a curse”.
No, what they needed was strong pitching and that is exactly what they have now. The only better move would be if they acquired Marcus Stroman instead.
When asked what he thinks drew the Red Sox to him Cashner replied: “I think my changeup got a lot better and working on my pitch selection.” He added that he is excited to be apart of the team because of their rich franchise history and David Ortiz, one of his favorite all-time players.
Cashner will, of course, miss his Baltimore Orioles though, because they have been like a family. He says that they are “some of the most respective and caring coaching staff.”
Andrew Casner will make his debut on Tuesday when the Boston Red Sox play the Toronto Blue Jays.
