Brandon Phillips: From the Cincinnati Reds to the Diablos Rojos
Three-time all-star, Four-time gold glove, and silver slugger second basemen, Brandon Phillips has joined the Diablos Rojos del México team of the Mexican Baseball League.
Brandon Phillips, former starting second baseball for the Cincinnati Reds (11 seasons), Cleveland Indians (4 seasons), Atlanta Braves (1 season), Boston Red Sox (1 season), and Los Angeles Angels (1 season) has completely changed scenery and has become a part of the Diablos Rojos del México who’s hometown is in Mexico City, Mexico.
Mostly known for his time with the Reds, Phillips made history in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates back in 2015 by smashing two three-run shots and racking up an astonishing seven runs batted in. That same night, he stole two bases becoming first MLB player to achieve such as astonishing stat line.
The uniform and the cleats that Phillips wore during that game are now on display in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Throughout his MLB career, Phillips was a quintessential 5-tool player who could practically do it all.
For his career, Phillips slashed a respectable .275 / .320 / .420 while also stealing an astonishing 209 stolen bases. He also managed to hit 201 career home runs.
He is one of 40 players in MLB history to ever hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in a single season.
What’s more, he was in the running for MVP twice. Once in 2007, the same season he joined the 30-30 club. Then again during the 2012 season, where he came in 13th place, the closest he got to winning MVP during his career.
Brandon Phillips finished his MLB career while with the Boston Red Sox. That season, Phillips struggled to stay on the field, managing only 4 hits in 27 PA.
Phillips who was a three-time All-Star in MLB has now become a second baseman for the Diablos Rojos del México, where he will continue to make a positive impact for whatever team he is playing for on the baseball diamond.
