As teams approach the 100-game mark the NL is stacked with talented young players and more competitive than usual. This begs the question: which NL teams become sellers during the 2019 MLB season?
To no surprise, the 2019 MLB season has so far belonged to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Through 99 games, they are 64-35, 14 games ahead of the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Dodgers are powered by young sluggers, like Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson, and their dominant starting pitchers, early Cy Young-favorite Hyun-Jin Ryu, three-time Cy Young Clayton Kershaw, and young sensation Walker Buehler.
The Atlanta Braves hold the second-best record in the conference, sitting on top of the NL East at 58-40, 5.5 games ahead of the second-place Washington Nationals.
All-Star and young starter Michael Soroka has been a pleasant surprise. Freddie Freeman and Ronald Acuna Jr. have been the most consistent bats in their lineup, similar to last season.
The Chicago Cubs are currently 52-44 and only two games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers. The whole entire NL Central is within 8 games.
14 of the 15 teams in the NL, every team besides the forever-rebuilding Miami Marlins, are all within six games of the Wild Card. Obviously, only five teams make the playoffs. The three division leaders are supposed to continue their dominance.
The real question is: Which NL teams should give up on the postseason and become sellers at the deadline?
