Mets are Asking for Too Much from Padres in Syndergaard Trade
The San Diego Padres are interested in Noah Syndergaard but the New York Mets are asking for major league players and their best prospects for a deal to occur.
The San Diego Padres have been searching for a frontline starting pitcher who is controllable since last offseason, but might be searching into the winter because the New York Mets are not budging on their steep price tag for Noah Syndergaard.
According to Bob Nightengale, San Diego is “not optimistic” that a Noah Syndergaard deal will get done because of the Mets’ high price tag.

Syndergaard, 26, is under control for the next two seasons after this one so GM Brodie Van Wagenen wants a huge haul in return for him.
The Padres are high on Syndergaard and do want him, but they don’t think he will be the real ace of the team in 2021 and 2022.
New York is asking for the Padres projected ace in the deal, which is what is stalling the talks.
According to Joel Sherman, the Mets believe the Padres have not offered them enough for Syndergaard.
But on the Padres side of things, they believe that the Mets are asking for way too much.
It seems as if the Mets are asking for their two top pitching prospects MacKenzie Gore, Luis Patino, and/or top position prospect Luis Urias.
A.J. Preller is obviously never going to say yes to any deal that involves Gore or Patino, as they are labeled as ‘untouchable’.

If the Padres were to ship Urias to New York then the Mets won’t be getting a whole lot more from them.
Prospect Adrian Morejon would likely be in a deal along with center fielder Manuel Margot. Morejon is currently in the big leagues, as he has a 2.70 ERA.
Margot would provide much needed defensive help up the middle.
