Mets: Here’s the “strong” offer the Padres made for Syndergaard
The San Diego Padres have finally made a “strong” offer to the New York Mets for starter Noah Syndergaard. Find out what it is here.
The San Diego Padres started out talking to the New York Mets about starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard about 8 months ago.
GM A.J. Preller began the conversation by offering top pitching prospects and perhaps help up the middle, particularly in center field.
Then, the Mets obviously said “no” to the offer or offers they might have made. I assume Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen has been acting like it is his way or the highway’.

There have been some reports about what the Mets have now wanted, and it has a direct correlation to the Marcus Stroman deal they made with the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.
After acquiring Stroman it seems like Van Wagenen believes in his club, so much so that he wants to ‘rebooting’ instead of rebuilding and that means gearing up for 2020.
San Diego has now reportedly upped their offer to meet what the Mets want which are major league or major league ready players.
According to Andy Martino, the Padres made what they think is a “strong” offer for Syndergaard, one that involves multiple major league players.
I think that Van Wagenen is saying “no” right now to San Diego’s offer because they also want top prospects in the package but SD won’t budge because they feel like they have met their needs but the Mets are getting too greedy.
It appears (based off recent reports) as if the Padres have offered them help up the middle in Manuel Margot and starting pitching whether that be a guy like Adrian Morejon or Michel Baez or perhaps even Eric Lauer.
The Padres are trying to land Syndergaard by giving the Mets what they want but the Amazin’s seem to be dragging this process on by requesting more and more from San Diego.
