This season Gio Urshela has taken the Bronx by storm leaving the New York Yankees with a tough decision in the future. Who plays third moving forward: Miguel Andujar or Urshela?

Gio Urshela has been leaving New York Yankees fans in awe lately. The third baseman currently has a batting average of .323 and 17 home runs this season. The tough question is has he made Miguel Andujar expendable?

Andujar will not be able to play until the 2020 season because of his right shoulder injury, however, Urshela should start first. Gio’s defense and diving catches can’t be matched.

Both have similar numbers, Andujar had 15 home runs and 50 RBI’s while Urshela has 16 home runs and 61 RBI’s. Miguel can also play more than one infield position so that’s a plus. They can rotate him into other positions when he first returns.

Miguel only played a few games this season before leaving with his injury. There’s no question that they are both amazing players. It’s just up to Aaron Boone where he wants to place them in the upcoming season.

The 27-year-old Urshela definitely showed his worth in the past few games especially. He hit 5 home runs in a 3 game span tying Alex Rodriguez’s record. He also hit a double and a home run in today’s game against the Orioles. In his last 14 games, he has had 17 RBI’s as well.

Every home run, every RBI, he is just getting closer and closer to saving that spot. The Yankees could do one of two things, either trade Andujar and keep Urshela at third or rotate Andujar at first and designated hitter while Urshela plays third. Would they really trade him though?

Gio Urshela makes playing third base easy. The New York Yankees only acquired him one year ago and he is making amazing strides, getting better and better every day. Gio says that he has a lot more confidence than he has had last year.
