Former Arizona Diamondbacks legend Curt Schillin is back in the news as he is once again considering running for Congress.
Curt Schilling had been quiet lately. The former Arizona Diamondbacks legend had managed to go without making headlines for quite some time, as he had been silent of late. One had to hope that he realized that his offensive memes and intolerant behavior had run its course.
Well, Schilling is back in the news. This time, he has indicated that he is considering running for Congress from Arizona, obviously on the Republican ticket if he does take that step.
Schilling was a solid pitcher during his career. Known primarily for his time with the Phillies, Red Sox, and Diamondbacks, he posted a lifetime 216-146 record, with a 3.46 ERA and a 1.137 WHiP, striking out 3116 batters with only 711 walks.

Schilling also had a solid resume in addition to those statistics. A six time All Star, he finished as the runner up in the Cy Youn voting three times. Schilling won 20 or more games three times, leading the league twice. His numbers and accolades made him an intriguing Hall of Fame candidate.
However, Schilling has yet to be inducted, in part from his post career nonsense. His gaming company bilked Rhode Island taxpayers out of $75 million before declaring bankruptcy. He was fired from ESPN due to several offensive tweets, the final straw being a transphobic meme that he shared on Twitter.
From that point, he has continually made a habit of complaining about anyone in the media that dare to criticize his stances, but will attack anyone that is not like him. He has made quite a few attacks on the press, has said numerous offensive things about different religions, made homophobic comments, and claimed that several school shootings were a hoax. Here is a partial list if one wants to click.
This is also not the first time he has mulled a run for Congress. He had considered running against Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts, threatening to do so several times without actually setting foot in the political arena. Obviously, it remains to be seen as to whether or not Schilling will actually run for office in Arizona, or if this is just another idle threat. But it gets him back in the news, which is probably all that he wants anyway.
Former Arizona Diamondbacks legend Curt Schilling is mulling a run for Congress. Again. At least he’s eyeing a different state this time.
