Ryan McMahon and the Rockies deliver four of the MLB’s 25 longest homers during the first two games of their series with Miami at Coors this week.
The combination of Miami’s shaky pitching and Coors Field’s hitter-friendly dimensions was too enticing for Colorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon to pass up. This accounted for four of MLB’s longest home runs this past week.
On Saturday night during the Rockies’ 11-3 rout of the Marlins, McMahon drove an Adam Conley pitch 455 feet. One night earlier, on the way to a 3-0 victory over the Marlins, McMahon smoked a Sandy Alcantara pitch for 444 feet. They were, respectively, the week’s third and 11th longest home runs.

They were also two of five Rockies home runs among the week’s 25 longest. On Monday night, Trevor Story hit a 437-footer against Arizona’s Merrill Kelly. Friday night, Nolan Arenado hit a 435 footer off Ryne Stanek. Then on Saturday, Ian Desmond followed one of McMahon’s homers with a 454-footer of his own.
During their trip into Denver, Marlins pitchers accounted for four of the 25 longest bombs.
The only two longer than McMahon’s 455-footer were a 467-foot blast struck Monday by Houston’s George Springer against Chicago’s Dylon Cease at Guaranteed Rate Field, and Gio Urshela’s 461-footer for the Yankees off Baltimore’s Gabriel Ynoa Sunday.
Minnesota’s Jose Berrios made two starting appearances during the week and allowed batters to go very deep against him in each. On Sunday, Berrios surrendered a 439-foot blast to Cleveland’s Greg Allen. The following Saturday, Texas’ Danny Santana rode a Berrios pitch 441 feet.
The average distance of the week’s 25 longest home runs was 444.6 feet. As deep as that sounds, it’s actually modest by contemporary standards. The average of the 25 longest one week ago exceeded 451 feet; it was 447 feet two weeks ago.
The list measures the longest home runs in MLB as calculated by Statcast. Where ties exist, they are broken by exit velocity. Here are the week’s 25 longest.
