As we continue our march towards the end of the season, the 1st place Atlanta Braves look to add some speed, skill, and leadership to their roster with the acquisition of veteran Billy Hamilton.

This season, the Atlanta Braves have been dealing with injuries to multiple starting outfielders. Some of these injuries include Nick Markaias who is batting just below .300, rookie Austin Riley who is suffering from a knee injury, and three-time gold glove Ender Inciarte who is suffering from a hamstring injury.

Billy Hamilton will fit right in as the third outfielder right next to former rookie of the year Ronald Acuna Jr.and 2016 all-star, Adam Duvall. Hamilton who has an astonishing 295 stolen bases in seven years, is one of the fastest and most elite baserunners in the history of baseball.

He is mainly known for his athletic plays in the field and his speed. But, he can still slug the ball as his career batting average is .242. Hamilton will most likely join the Braves out fielding staff and help them continue to work to claim their spot in 1st. Since Hamilton was acquired before August 31st, he will be able to play with the Braves during the postseason.

With the Braves in 10th for the statistic of total steals, Hamilton will look to push them ahead of 9th place D-Backs, and 8th place Rays. The Braves have won 6 of their last 10 games beating the powerhouse Dodgers twice. While the Nationals are second in the division behind the Braves, they have won 7 of their last 10 and are looking to overtake. They are behind by 5.0 games and if the Braves want to continue their dominance in the division, they will need someone just like Hamilton.

The Atlanta Braves look to continue their magnificent pace towards the playoffs with the second-best record in the NL at 74-52. As we wind down the season, Hamilton looks to contribute nicely towards the team’s spot in the division.
