Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout is out for the season with a foot injury, but he has 45 HR so should he still win the MVP despite his injury?

Is seemed inevitable that Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout would take home his third American League Most Valuable Player until he was sidelined with a right foot injury.

“I kind of knew when I first got my MRI a few weeks ago that I would probably need surgery at the end of the year to get it removed,” Trout said Sunday addressing his injury. “Just got worse. We tried everything. The training staff has been awesome. Some days it would feel good. Some days, once the thing cleared up, it was tough to walk.”

He was supposed to travel to New York with the Angels for their series starting on Tuesday with the Yankees but has returned to LA for surgery. That’s not to say he didn’t try to be out there.

“We tried injections, tried the cryoablation [cold fluid] — thought that would help. As soon as I went out there and started running, it flares up. After it clears up, in about 30-40 minutes, it’s tough to walk on,” Trout said.

I still believe he is on his way to winning that MVP despite his injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Trout has had another amazing season, as this is his sixth season with at least 30 home runs with a career-best of 45 HR this season.

He leads all American League hitter with a .438 on-base percentage and a .645 slugging percentage.

His only competitors for the AL MVP are Houston’s Alex Bregman, Boston’s Xander Bogaerts, and Yankees’ D.J. Lemahieu.

Bregman is his closest competition, as he is nearly hitting .300 with 36 homers and is leading Houston into the postseason in hopes for their second World Series in the last three seasons.

I believe Trout should still win the MVP because he displayed the best power year of his career and he leads the league in the most important categories today which is OBP and SLG.
