The San Diego Padres fired Andy Green on Saturday. These three candidates would be great picks to be the next manager.

Andy Green was on the heat seat at the beginning of the season, and his seat kept getting hotter and hotter as the season went on.

He made a lot of questionable decisions like continuously bringing in closer Kirby Yates in a non-save situation when the stats showed that he doesn’t pitch well in those situations.

In the first half of the season, he would bat Eric Hosmer second while Franmil Reyes would hit fourth instead of flipping the two when the numbers showed that Hosmer produced more in the four spot.

There was a report from Forbes that he already had lost the clubhouse before the All-Star Break.

It seemed like he just wasn’t a great fit in the San Diego Padres clubhouse when it came to motivating the team and being the right communicator to all of the young guys.

Green should have noticed that his time in San Diego would be coming to an end when former Triple-A manager Rod Barajas was brought in to be the bench coach.

Why? Because Barajas was able to communicate with the young players, unlike Green.

His time was up and after Friday night’s 9-0 loss to the Diamondbacks, management believed it was time to make the decision so prospective managers who either got fired or are looking to get back in the dugout would know at the beginning of the offseason that the Padres have an opening.

Here are the best candidates to replace Green to manage the most interesting team in baseball.
