Los Angeles Angels: What Maddon hiring means for other vacancies
Joe Maddon is the Los Angeles Angels manager, which now lets a lot of dominos fall for other managerial vacancies.
Joe Maddon was always going to go to the Los Angeles Angels, but with his hiring, there are a few names that now can set their sights on other teams.
According to a report, Buck Showalter impressed the Angels at their interview, so he is going to be at the front of the conversation for the Phillies and Mets managerial jobs.
With Maddon’s hiring, it gives the Phillies and the Mets an opportunity to grab Showalter before any other teams do.

The Mets are interviewing a wide range of candidates that span from Eduardo Perez our of the booth to veteran managers like Showalter and Joe Girardi.
The Phillies are also in on veteran managers, and it seems like Bryce Harper has given Dusty Baker his approval for the managerial job of the Phillies do indeed go in that direction.
The Cubs, who were Maddon’s former employer, was looking at Joe Girardi, Gabe Kapler, and many internal candidates that include David Ross and Mark Loretta.
The Padres are the big domino in the situation. They were looking at Joe Maddon, as they were his second choice, but now that he off the board they can focus on other candidates.
Ron Washington seemed to be the front runner for the job until Dennis Lin of The Athletic reported that Jayce Tingler is in San Diego for his second managerial interview with A.J. Preller.
Preller and Tingler were together in Texas, and sources have said that Preller loves him so it seems like he has the edge right now.
Although it seems Tingler has an advantage, there are other candidates that have “quietly” interviewed for the job, according to Jon Heyman.
The San Diego job is the most attractive job out there so it will be interesting to see who gets it.
