The San Diego Padres might have Jayce Tingler as their new skipper currently but Bruce Bochy wants to manage again in 2021.

Bruce Bochy has won not one not two but three World Series championships with the San Francisco Giants, but he could be trying to win one for the San Diego Padres down the road.

In an interview with Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo on Sirius/XM, Bruce Bochy admitted that he wants to manage again after he takes a year off.

“I’d love to have one more shot,” he said.

When Russo told him that he predicted he would be managing in 2021, Bochy said ‘I’m with you. I’m just hitting the pause button. That’s all, you know, and taking a sabbatical here for a year and then, you know, I’ll see where I’m at. I don’t know how I’m gonna feel but I’d love to have one more shot.”

Bochy will be involved in baseball for the 2019 season, in an unspecified special assistant role but as for 2021, there’s a good chance he could back in the dugout.

He won’t be back in the dugout with the Giants, especially after all of the ceremonies that he went through in the final weekend at Oracle Park.

So with who then? His first manager job… The San Diego Padres.

But the Padres just hired Jayce Tingler, who has no major league managerial or playing experience to be their skipper.

Yes, they did, but Executive Chairman Ron Fowler recently said at a fan event that “heads will roll” if the team doesn’t improve in 2020, which means A.J. Preller and his new hire Jayce Tingler could easily be headed out the door if the Padres don’t improve in the standings.

In comes Bruce Bochy. It is not a stretch that Bruce Bochy is the manager of the Padres in 2021 despite the recent managerial hiring.
