He had spent the majority of his career with the Rays organization. Bloom is highly-regarded around the league and it seems as if this move will be a great hire for the Red Sox, who fired Dave Dombrowski earlier this year in the middle of the night following a Boston loss after serving many seasons with the team.

Bloom will go from the Tampa Bay Rays, who have the lowest payroll in the league, to the Boston Red Sox who have the highest payroll in the league. Boston’s payroll is $166 million.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan called him the most well-regarded executive in baseball without a GM title. The Boston Red Sox have clearly made a good choice and fans are happy about it too.
