The Champagne hasn’t finished spilling but Vegas has already released the odds for next year’s MLB World Series champion.
Congratulations to the MLB World Series Champion Washington Nationals on a hard-fought series against the Astros. In fact, the odds of who wins the 2020 World Series are already out. So here is a wayyyyyy to early look at who oddsmakers think will be hoisting the trophy a year from now.

Astros +400
Even though they are still one of the top run teams in all of MLB, this pick gives the Astros a little too much credit. They had a historic offense this year, posting a 125 wRC+ with a murderers row of Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, George Springer, and others.
The elephant in the room is that Gerrit Cole will almost certainly not be back. Cole will likely be causing headaches pitching for a postseason competitor (Yankees, Twins) or within the AL West (Rangers, Angels).
The Astros are still a great team but their odds of winning in 2020 at +400 shouldn’t carry much interest. While the talent distribution and roster structures are totally different, look at the NBA’s Golden State Warriors faltering with injuries/departures after being the title runner-up.
