Not only does Bartolo Colon want to pitch again in 2020, but he may have sent a subtle message to the New York Mets about his preferred destination.

When last we saw Bartolo Colon, he was struggling through the 2017 and 2018 seasons. After a solid run with the New York Mets, it appeared as though Colon’s time in the majors had come to pass. He was still throwing strikes, but his fastball was not fooling anyone. Despite his desire to pitch in 2019, Colon was unable to find any takers for his services.

However, he is not ready to throw in the towel. A video was released on Twitter showing Colon throwing, and he may be sending a not-so-subtle message about his desired landing spot.

Yes, those are blue and orange shorts that Colon is wearing in the clip. And, if one looks closer, there is a Mets logo on the bottom of one of the legs. Is that just a coincidence? Or, is he trying to send a message to Brodie Van Wagenen and the front office that he wants to come back?

Regardless of his desires, it is difficult to imagine that there will be a market for Colon. His 2018 campaign did not inspire any confidence that the then 44 year old had anything left in the tank. He struggled to a 7-12 record, posting a 5.78 ERA and a 1.346 WHiP. Over his 146.1 innings, he issued just 25 walks while striking out 81 batters, but he also allowed 32 homers.

However, it just takes one team to bite the bullet. The Mets are looking for rotation depth, even after inking Michael Wacha to a contract for 2020. If they were to offer a minor league deal, it is hard to imagine Colon declining such a contract.

There is also some added incentive for Colon to make a comeback. He is three victories away from reaching the 250 win plateau. In addition, if he makes an appearance in 2020, he would become 30th player to play in the majors over four different decades.

Next. The emancipation of the Mets. dark

Bartolo Colon wants another chance to return to the majors. By the looks of the video, he is sending a not so subtle message to the New York Mets about his preferred destination.
