Should White Sox be more aggressive in free agency after Kluber deal
The Chicago White Sox could have an opening to take the AL Central after Corey Kluber was traded by the Cleveland Indians, but should they suddenly be more aggressive?
The Chicago White Sox have an interesting decision to make after the Cleveland Indians traded Corey Kluber to the Texas Rangers for Delino DeShields and Emmanuel Clase.
To go for it or stick with the plan.
Chicago already has a very intriguing team in 2020 with Yoan Moncada, Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson, and Yasmani Grandal in the infield with a young outfield and talented rotation.

Their rotation has not gotten any help as of yet, so that could be an upcoming move that Rick Hahn will make this winter.
But I don’t think they should deviate from the plan just because the Indians traded their 2-time Cy Young award winner. He hasn’t been himself since 2018 so what is to say that he wasn’t going to struggle in 2020 anyway after coming back from injury.
The Indians still have a very good club with Mike Clevinger leading the rotation and Francisco Lindor still in the middle of their lineup.
The Minnesota Twins have kept their 2019 division-winning team largely intact, so they aren’t going anywhere as they also have the possibility to add to their rotation in the free-agent market.
I understand where White Sox fans would be coming from when they would want ownership to suddenly spend on starting pitching, for example, but in my opinion, there is still at least one team in their division that is a good amount ahead of them in terms of the win total.
I think the White Sox best opportunity to spend more than they have in free agency is when they really have a chance to win the AL Central. And that would be once Jose Berrios and Jake Odorizzi (possibly) leave after the 2020 season from Minnesota, and when Francisco Lindor is either shipped out of town or leaves on his own from Cleveland.
