MLB revenue has reached an all-time high, totaling $10.7 billion dollars, up from $10.3 billion in 2018.

MLB revenue has reached an all-time high of $10.7B.  You hear so much negative about baseball and how it is a dying sport, yet you see numbers like this and you realize baseball will be okay.

This record number was hit, despite seeing a drop in attendance around the league, but even with declining attendance, baseball, in general, is still seeing a decent amount of revenue come from the gates.

This is a number which is very interesting to me.  I constantly hear how baseball is a boring sport and how it must evolve to continue being viable and watchable.  I would contend this proves baseball is good where it is right now.

I understand there are necessary changes to avoid becoming stagnant, but I think the sport, in general, is doing a great job of making small changes, without compromising the integrity of the game.

It certainly helps to be negotiating new media rights deals for the coming seasons.  For example, the new deal with Fox will start in 2022 and the league is in active negotiations with both ESPN and Turner Sports.

Also, a new $1 billion jersey partnership with Nike begins this season.  All of these MLB revenue streams continue to help grow the brand of the MLB as a whole and each individual team’s market share.

It makes me feel really good about the game I grew up loving and watching with my dad is not going anywhere any time soon.  I can still dream about my Diamondbacks going to the World Series again at some point and my dad can dream about his Indians getting back there at some point as well.

I really love this sport and it is good to see it is in good standing and will continue to entertain me and my family for generations to come.rev
