The New York Yankees remain interested in acquiring Josh Hader, but they will be forced to give up many talented pieces so here’s what the return would look like.

The New York Yankees want to make every other team have the worst possible holidays. They signed the best pitcher on the planet to a $324 million deal and are interested in acquiring one of the best relievers in the game, Josh Hader.

Jon Heyman reported over the weekend that Brian Cashman “could begin a package with Miguel Andujar.” Andujar was hurt a majority of the season, and the Yankees seem confident that Gio Urshela is the real deal so he would be a logical fit for the Milwaukee Brewers, who don’t have a set starting third baseman.

But a deal for Hader would only start with Andujar meaning that the Brewers are going to want multiple young and controllable players in return.

And their reasoning is justified. On top of Hader being an elite reliever who helped lead them to their second consecutive postseason appearance last season, the Brewers are a small market team which means they don’t have the ability like the Yankees to throw money at their problems.

They realize that they are unlikely going to be able to pay Hader once he reached free agency and might want to trade him sooner rather than later while his value is still up.

So, that controllable talent I was referring to would probably have to come from the pitching side of things, and the first name that GM David Stearns should mention is Deivi Garcia.

Garcia, 20, is the Yankees top pitching prospect who made his Triple-A debut in 2019 and has been compared to Pedro Martinez.

“His size, the way the balls come out, the only name that comes to mind is Pedro Martinez,” said Trenton Thunder manager, Pat Osborn.

Although Milwaukee doesn’t need another outfielder, Clint Frazier seems to come up in every major trade talk involving the New York Yankees, so he could very well be a possibility.

Next. Mets a potential landing spot for Nolan Arenado. dark

To be blunt, a Josh Hader trade is unlikely to occur but what is obvious is that the Yankees will have to give up a lot of young talent if they want Josh Hader.
