8. Arizona Diamondbacks- Carson Kelly

2019 stats: 111 games .245/.348/.478 18 homers 47 RBI

2020 steamer: 99 games .249/.339/.428 14 homers 47 RBI

Kelly was blocked by Yadier Molina in St. Louis but finally got his chance to be the guy at the catching position in Arizona with the trade of Paul Goldschmidt. Kelly struggled in the second half, hitting just .207, and because of that, he probably wasn’t on your radar much last season. However, for 2020 fantasy baseball, he should be. His second-half decline could be in part to him hitting a wall in his first full big-league season.

Even with that, Kelly was 12th in WAR among all catchers with more than 100 plate appearances. Kelly’s 18 homers were tied for ninth. His 13.2% walk rate was fourth among all catchers and his .478 slugging percentage was 10th.

If Kelly can keep his high OBP and slugging percentages, there’s no reason to think he can’t be one of the more promising catchers to have on your 2020 fantasy baseball team. There could be a real breakout here for a team that is looking to compete in 2020.
