Carlos Beltran was wrongfully fired by the New York Mets on Thursday.

Carlos Beltran, the New York Mets newly appointed manager, was connected to the Houston Astros as a part of the 2017 Houston Astros investigation, where they were found guilty of electronically stealing signs.

Only 75 days, not even one game, into his tenure as Manager of the New York Mets, they have “parted ways.”

Mets Chief Operating Officer Jeff Wilpon, Executive Vice President, General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen said that it was not an easy decision.

Think what you want, but Beltran and the Mets did not mutually part ways. He was fired because the media and Major League Baseball created a tense situation by mentioning him during the investigation

MLB mentioned Beltran during their investigation of the 2017 Houston Astros and the 2018 Boston Red Sox. Both managers of the Astros, AJ Hinch, and Red Sox, Alex Cora, have been fired by their teams.

Beltran should not have been fired. It is that simple. He was not a part of Hooton’s 2017 coaching staff, unlike Hinch and Cora. He was a player for the Astros during this season and he should not be punished.

If Beltran is going to be punished, the entire 2017 Houston Astros roster should be in trouble. Some believe Beltran was a mastermind as a player with Houston, but he is an unnecessary scapegoat.

Even if Beltran did something he should not have during the 2017 season for the Astros, this was while he was a player and not a manager. He should be not have been mentioned and positioned the way he has throughout this investigation and debacle.

Beltran would have been the first Latino manager to manage the club.
