Cincinnati Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer eliminated the need to steal his signs during his Cactus League start by letting some batters know what was coming.

Now to be clear, he didn’t do this with every batter, but Cincinnati Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer at times used traditional glove signs to let the batter know what was coming.  It was as if he was warming up before the inning started and letting his catcher know what was coming.

While he didn’t do it for his entire start, when he did it, it was successful.  He threw three scoreless innings out of the bullpen, giving up two hits and striking out two.  I’m sure it won’t continue into the season, but Bauer is making a point.

He is one of the most outspoken baseball players and never shy’s away from speaking his mind.  He recently wrote an article for The Athletic detailing his feelings on the sign-stealing scandal and the far-reaching effects of said sign stealing.

His main point is the main sticking point for most people.  Pretty much everyone agrees sign stealing is part of baseball.  You are trying to get every advantage available to you, but you draw the line in the sand with the technology that was used.

Now, this is one of the many responses to the Houston Astros and this scandal.  It most certainly won’t be the last.  Astros hitters are being hit by pitches and booed pretty much everywhere and it will only get worse once the season actually starts.

This scandal is not going anywhere.  People forget we still have half of it to get through.  We don’t know the extent of the Boston Red Sox portion of it or what punishments will be handed down from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.

Personally I am a fan of Cincinnati Reds starter Trevor Bauer. I liked him when he came up through the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system and was sad to see him leave

It will be interesting to see if he continues to do this once the regular season starts.  Anything is possible when it comes to Bauer.
