That time President Trump found time to call former New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez for his thoughts on the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The last I remembered of Alex Rodriguez, the New York Yankees were pushing the 40-year-old into retirement (Mark Teixeira style) because he was hitting a cool .200. Next thing I know the President of the best nation in the free world is asking him advice on medical matters.
A look at the Alex Rodriguez baseball resume and the guy fills up the stat columns better than Chevron fills up the gas tank. He was four home runs shy of 700. He has about half as many all-star appearances as stars on the United States flag, and he has Silver Slugger Awards and Most Valuable Player Awards sprinkled about his twenty-two year playing career.

I guess if President Trump is asking advice on how to hit a curveball, yeah he should be calling Rodriguez. But is this the time to be worried about hitting whiffle balls on the White House lawn? A deeper look suggests Trump’s call to Rodriguez was to get his thoughts on the administration’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Wait, Alex Rodriguez giving advice on something medical related? Maybe President Trump was confusing this matter with the performance-enhancing drug matter, in which Rodriguez was suspended all of 2014.
There was no discussion on what the ramifications of the talk will be or what further was discussed outside of Rodriguez’s thoughts on how it was handled. The word out of the Rodriguez camp is the talk was “pleasant”. It’s doubtful President Trump will turn to A-Rod again, though the relationship remains amicable.
As the stock market continues to fluctuate one should invest in Alex Rodriguez, as his stock is on the rise. He has a series on CNBC called “Back in the Game“. Once the baseball season gets underway again he will be announcing the Sunday Night Game of the Week for ESPN. He’s rolling around town with Jenny from the Block, Jennifer Lopez, and now he’s taking calls from Trump.
Life can’t get any better for Alex Rodriguez.
