Seattle Mariners: The franchise all-time bracket

No. 2 vs. 7 seed

The 1995 Mariners were the first Seattle team to qualify for post-season. They beat California 9-1 in a showdown Game 162 on the final Sunday, eliminated the Yankees in the division series, and then were defeated by Cleveland in the ALCS.

Martinez was the offensive spark plug with a .356 average, 29 home runs, and 113 RBIs. Right fielder Jay Buhner added 121 RBIs, while Griffey fought through an injury-marred season. First baseman Tino Martinez picked up the slack with a .293 average and 111 RBIs.

Johnson was 18-2 in 30 starts with a league-leading 2.48 ERA, a league-leading 294 strikeouts and his first Cy Young Award. He lost once in June, once in August and that was it.

The 2007 team was 88-74, good for second in the AL West and six games out of both the division and wild card races. As usual, Suzuki led the offense, this season at .356. Outfielder Raul Ibanez drove in 105 runs.

In his second full season, Hernandez was 14-7 in 30 starts. J.J. Putz produced 40 saves.
