Announcer Joe Buck is not having trouble finding job opportunities during the MLB shutdown and the latest industry to recruit him may surprise you.

With the offseason Joe Buck is having, one has to wonder if the tide is turning on the public hatred for the man. The last time I heard, the guy was the subject of an “I hate Joe Buck” Facebook Page. Now he is landing announcing gigs for live porn, to which thankfully he turned the other cheek.

I never could figure out why Joe Buck received such criticism from fans. Was it because he is the son of a former broadcaster (Jack Buck of the St. Louis Cardinals) and people thought nepotism got him into the game? Was it because he started broadcasting at the ripe age of 25 and people hated the wunderkind he had become?

Some say it is the lack of emotion he displayed in critical moments of games, while others say he comes across as smug and lacking impartiality. I’d say he has the perfect voice and calls games at a level playing field to not take anything away from the excitement of the moment.

In the MLB hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Buck had said he would provide commentary to home videos if followers would send in submissions. It appears someone in the pornography industry caught wind of this and found Joe Buck’s cell phone number.

The adult entertainment site ImLive announced they would offer Buck $1M to commentate live shows for six weeks. Buck made a noteworthy joke at the offer, but turned them down, noting he would like to keep his day job.

There is no doubt in my mind Buck would have done a solid job with the play by play he would have encountered. The man has proven he can put words to anything in a comedic, yet professional manner. However, he made a wise choice in turning this down and holding out for the return of Major League Baseball.
