Anthony Seigler became just the fourth catcher selected in the first round by the Yankees in their draft history. Only Thurmon Munson has made the Majors of the other three. Seigler will be moved along the system slowly as he was drafted out of high school. He spent 2019 at Single-A Charleston. Seigler is a switch hitter with a lot of promise so he could climb the organization ladder in time.
2019 Pick #30 SS Anthony Volpe
Anthony Volpe is another high school product out of nearby New Jersey who settled into rookie ball at Pulaski of the Appalachian League. He has a good eye at the plate and will presumably develop into an infielder the Yankees want him to in time. He made nine errors in thirty-three games, but as an 18-year-old, he has a lot of time to work on his glovework.
2019 Pick #38 P T.J. Sikkema
T.J. Sikkema was a college pitcher being drafted out of The University of Missouri. He made four appearances at Staten Island last year and gave up just one run over ten-plus innings. He is a left-hander who reaches the mid-90s with the fastball so the future is very bright for Sikkema, the most recent of Yankee draft picks.
