Raiquelis Rubi is a name to keep in mind during the 2022 international signing period, as the lefty can already throw 85 MPH at 15 years old.

Raiquelis Rubi is an interesting prospect for the international signing period of 2022. The lefty at age 15 can uncork an 85 mph and also has a few advanced breaking pitches in his arsenal.

Although he stands at 5’11 and only weighs 165 pounds, he still has a lot of time to grow. His last year in Cuba which was with the 13-14 juveniles, he helped Matanzas to a runner up finish in the league. He also led the league that year in earned run average and win-loss percentage.

Rubi is represented by Yuan Pino and without a doubt could be one of the prizes of the international signing period in 2022, especially because of his enormous and evolving talent.

When will you be holding a showcase for major league teams?

As far for the showcases, that’s up in the air right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are no showcases programmed for the near future and it’s a shame because I have been preparing to impress teams for six months.

More international prospects. Cesar Prieto - the next great Cuban second baseman. light

How have you prepared for these future showcases, when they eventually happen?

My trainer Armando Rodríguez, who is in charge of helping me mature as a pitcher has done a great job in preparing.  I’m confident I will put on a show for the teams that come to see me when I’m given a chance to show my talents.

What teams have shown interest in you?

Well, the Cubs, Phillies, Yankees, Astros, Nationals, and Mets have been to see me, and all have shown a great interest in my talents.

We all know you have a good fastball, but what other pitches do you throw? Also what other pitch in your repertoire is as dominant as your fastball?

My curve which is between 68-70 mph and my changeup which is between 75-78 mph are also as dominant as my fastball. I’m also working on a slider that in due time will be as dominant as my other pitches.

Next. Three Cubans who went straight to the majors. dark

Is there an MLB team that you would love to play for?

I would love to play for the Marlins, but to my chagrin, they haven’t been out to see me just yet.
