2020 MLB Season: Simulating AL games (May 18-21)

With a 6-for-13 performance against the Blue Jays, Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel assumed the lead in the batting race from Minnesota’s Josh Donaldson, who was just 2-for-16 against the Orioles and White Sox. Gurriel is batting .371; Donaldson’s average fell 22 points to .354, putting him in a tie with Baltimore’s Jose Iglesias. Kansas City’s Alex Gordon and Boston’s Xander Bogaerts are just one point further back.

With two home runs versus the Orioles, Miguel Sano increased his lead in that category to three over Kansas City’s Jorge Soler and Chicago’s Jose Abreu. Sano has 22.

Abreu leads with 51 RBIs, two more than Gurriel, and three more than Donaldson.

In weekend games, the West-leading Astros are at Fenway for three games while the Seattle Mariners travel to Yankee Stadium to try the Yankees. The Twins continue their four-game series with the White Sox, and the Indians hope to hold their position with three games in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.

Baltimore continues its four-game series in Toronto, Tampa Bay plays the first three of a four-game wraparound series in Detroit, and Texas is in Kansas City for three.

The Oakland Athletics host the red-hot Angels for three games.
