Philadelphia Phillies: Andrew McCutchen loses home run derby to Uncle Larry
There might be a new participant in the next Home Run Derby, with Uncle Larry proving he has more pop in the bat than Andrew McCutchen.
If Uncle Larry has not been signed to a contract yet, I’m guessing there is a long line waiting to speak to him once the roster freeze is allowed to thaw. I’m also thinking Andrew McCutchen needs to hit the weight room some so he can better defend his honor.
In a witty turn of events, Cutch and his alter ego, took to the field to have a little fun during a time when America is without baseball.
Does this remind anyone of Charlie Murphy’s character on the Dave Chappelle show from years ago? I’d say a spitting image. Has to be the hair.
Was nice to see McCutchen step into the batter’s box and let ’em fly. He has such a smooth swing and brings such a great personalty to the ballpark every day. The game needs a healthy Cutch, and the Philadelphia Phillies will be happy to see him back in uniform as well.
During a time of despair when the majority of society isn’t able to leave their house, and most of us are glued to our Twitter threads, scrolling though and seeing McCutchen and his shenanigans was very refreshing.
After missing all but 59 games of the 2019 season recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL, McCutchen was going to be out until at least mid-April had the season started on time. Looks like he’s been at the park since spring training though dropping some bombs.
McCutchen won the MVP Award in 2013 as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has since spent time with the San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees, before landing with the Phillies on a 3 year/$50M deal.
Over the course of his years in the majors, Andrew McCutchen has hit 233 career home runs. Unfortunately for him, he was unable to come up with one more when it counted in his quest to beat Uncle Larry.
