In this 2020 MLB season simulations, in the NL East, the Phillies in neutral.
The Phillies managed nothing better than a split of their four mid-week games, losing Monday 6-1 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ketel Marte’s three hits produced three RBIs for the winners; Zach Eflin lasted just one and two-thirds innings and allowed five runs, all of them earned.
They beat the Padres 4-2 Tuesday, Zach Wheeler delivering eight innings and allowing just four hits. The Padres won 10-5 Wednesday, Fernando Tatis’ four hits including a home run. On Thursday, Logan Forsythe, Jay Bruce, and Bryce Harper all homered, lifting the Phillies to a 5-4 win.
It’s been a frustrating season for the Mets, but they exacted a measure of satisfaction when the Giants visited. On Monday, Michael Wacha pitched eight scoreless innings and left with a 4-0 advantage.
Then Edwin Diaz came in and allowed Pedro Sandoval’s three-run home run before escaping in a 4-3 final. The Mets won 6-1 Tuesday behind Jacob DeGrom, who worked seven innings, allowing just four hits. Jake Marisnick homered, tripled and drove in three runs.
Hunter Pence got the Giants going Thursday with a three-run first-inning home run, but Stephen Matz checked San Francisco from that point. Wilson Ramos homered with a man on in the second than homered again with a man on in the eighth to break a 3-3 tie.
