A mix of veterans and high-profiled prospects have the Chicago White Sox ready to compete during the 2020 MLB season.

It’s going to be tough to break through a deep and talented American League this year, but the Chicago White Sox have put together a young roster of top prospects and studs ready to make their mark in the major leagues.

Veteran pitchers Dallas Keuchel and Gio Gonzalez were added in the offseason to fill out a rotation that already has young, high upside arms in Lucas Giolito and Dylan Cease, while Yasmani Grandal and Edwin Encarnacion bring plenty of major league experience to the lineup.

Michael Kopech has already opted out of playing in 2020, delaying his return from Tommy John surgery, but the high-profile prospect will be healthy and ready to go at full strength in 2021. Chicago has enough rotation pieces to get through 60 games without him.

Much like the Padres, the White Sox are mixing experienced veterans with a long list of top, home grown prospects to see what kind of magic can happen in 2020. Nick Madrigal, Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, and Luis Robert form one of the top young quartets in the game and Robert has already shown us that he can hit a home run in any fashion he desires.

Tim Anderson found himself near the top of the leaderboards in 2019 with a .335 batting average and there’s little reason to believe he can’t put up similar numbers in 2020. We can’t talk about the White Sox without mentioning 33-year-old Jose Abreu. The Chicago first baseman hit 33 home runs with 38 doubles last year and is a force in the middle of this White Sox lineup.

It’s going to be very difficult to find any weak points in the lineup when facing the Chicago White Sox.

Playing a big chunk of their games against Detroit, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh will help keep Chicago in the discussion for an AL Central title for much of the season, but will the young talent perform consistently enough to overtake Cleveland or Minnesota?
