Looking to boost a couple of categories in your fantasy league, Baltimore Orioles SS Jose Iglesias is currently providing fantasy value and is worth a look.

Sitting around for three and a half months without baseball was treacherous. Not only was there no current baseball to watch, read about, or write about, there was no fantasy baseball to engage in. With the season underway and fantasy drafts completed, finding gems amongst the free agents could boost early-season numbers. Jose Iglesias is worth a look in deeper leagues.

We all knew the Baltimore Orioles were going to struggle this year. Struggling teams usually have struggling players who do not offer much when it comes to fantasy value, outside of one or two stars.

Jose Iglesias probably went overlooked in most leagues, though is currently hitting the cover off the ball in the early going. He will never provide much in terms of power numbers, however, his hot hitting is filling up several other categories at the moment.

Grabbing Iglesias to have as depth to cover off days for other players, or slide into middle infield position will prove to be a quality addition.

Currently, Iglesias has eight hits in sixteen at-bats, with a league-leading four doubles. He is slotted in the third spot in the batting order, an ideal location for both driving in runs and being driven in as well.

Last year with the Cincinnati Reds, Iglesias set career highs in both home runs and runs batted in, while batting .288. He should not be the everyday starter on your fantasy team, but right now he could be plugged in and utilized while he is putting up positive numbers.

With the shortened sixty game schedule, fantasy players can not afford to have any letdowns in their lineup. At this point, Iglesias has proven to be a sure-fire column contributor in the early going. He can help while he’s hot, and he’ll be expendable once he cools down.
