Robbie Ray

Last year, the Houston Astros made the surprising acquisition of Zack Greinke. In their quest to find Greinke some help, they could go back to his former team.

Robbie Ray had been a popular name in trade discussions during the offseason. After the Greinke trade, it was expected that the Diamondbacks would be in sell mode, and could look to move on from Ray as well. Instead, he remains in the desert.

As the Diamondbacks struggle to open the season, those trade rumors will only get louder. Ray has been a major part of those struggles, posting a 9.45 ERA and a 1.950 WHiP. He leads the NL with six home runs allowed and 11 walks issued. 2020 has been a mess.

But Ray is another pitcher that could succeed with a change of scenery. Being involved in a playoff push, while approaching free agency, could turn his season around. Ray has had success in the majors before, making the All Star Game in 2017, but can also be somewhat erratic.

Robbie Ray has been a popular name in trade rumors for over a year. If he is available, he could be an option for the Houston Astros.
