It’s been a weird season at Camden Yards in 2020 and the Baltimore Orioles scoreboard operator just wants a pizza.

The 2020 MLB season has been weird and wacky for every major league club, but the Baltimore Orioles continue to experience some of the weirdest moments of 2020.

Despite the uniqueness of this season, the hardworking staff behind the scenes at Camden Yards has been doing the only thing one can do in this situation, have a little fun.

The Orioles and Nationals took the field at Camden Yards on early Friday afternoon to complete their contest from Sunday which was postponed due to “mechanical error”, the mechanical error being the inability of the Nationals tarp crew to successfully roll out the tarp before watching the infield turn into a swimming pool.

After Baltimore completed their 6-2 victory over Washington, the skies opened up above Camden Yards, resulting in a long rain delay before their regularly scheduled Friday night contest.

Even without a crowd of fans to entertain, the Baltimore Orioles scoreboard operator decided to have a little fun.

This isn’t the first time the Orioles scoreboard operator has had some fun in 2020. Earlier in the season, during a rain delay, the Orioles wanted to make sure that their fans could still get the full effect of being at the ballpark, despite 2020 being the year of no fans.

Credit to the Baltimore Orioles for staff taking all of this in stride. No team has been immune to the weird this season, but it has to be hard some nights to remember which team is the home team at Camden Yards.

After having their initial series against the Miami Marlins postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak among Marlins players and staff, Miami eventually traveled to Baltimore on August 4th to play a four-game set.

The two teams played on Tuesday, August 4th with the Orioles as the home team. They then played a doubleheader on Wednesday, with the Orioles being the home team for game one and the Marlins as the home team for game two before finishing the series at Camden Yards on Thursday with another home game for the Marlins.

Move ahead to Friday night and the Orioles and Nationals completed their game from last weekend, which was played in Washington D.C, at Camden Yards with the Nationals as the home team. The regularly scheduled weekend series then began later Friday night with the Orioles as the home team.

There may be only six weeks left in the regular season, but if the second half of 2020 is anything like the first half, the Baltimore Orioles scoreboard operator may need to stay on their toes a bit longer.

Next time there is a rain delay in Baltimore, someone make sure a pizza is delivered to Camden Yards. The staff has certainly earned it, and so much more, this season.
