Minnesota Twins

It is highly unlikely that the Cleveland Indians would trade Mike Clevinger to the Minnesota Twins, but such a move could make sense.

For the Twins, it would be a way to finally land that top of the rotation starter they have coveted in the past two offseasons. They had been linked to seemingly every top starting pitcher available, only to be rebuffed at every turn. Trading for Clevinger would give them that ace to pair with Jose Berrios for the foreseeable future.

Minnesota also has a deep farm system in areas that the Indians could use help in. The likes of Trevor Larnach and Brent Rooker are essentially blocked by the depth at the major league level. The Twins have several intriguing arms and shortstops in the system as well, although the more interesting players are further from the majors.

Any possible deal between the Indians and Twins would likely require a premium. The last thing that the Indians would want is to watch Clevinger continually have success against them following a trade, even if a deal would make sense on paper. For that reason, such a trade is unlikely.

But the Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins have been trade partners before, and in the not too distant past. Another deal might make sense.
