The New York Yankees snap losing streak thanks to Dellin Betances.

To say that the last few days have been weird would be an understatement. For the New York Yankees, the last 48-hours included a walk-off win for the New York Mets – wait for it – in Yankee Stadium, and now a Dellin Betances assisted win for the Bronx Bombers.

Yes, the same Dellin Betances that donned Yankee pinstripes for eight seasons between 2011 and 2019. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself:

The Yankees desperately needed that win too or they risked having the longest losing streak since 1982 when they lost nine consecutive games. That season, the team would up winning just 79 games and finishing 5th in the division.

Sure, this current team isn’t that bad, but of late, they certainly have looked that bad.

It all started with a stellar performance on behalf of JA Happ, who entered the game with an atrocious 6.39 ERA. Happ would end up going 7.1 IP, allowing just 3 H, 5 SO, and 0 ER before being yanked by Aaron Boone for reliever Adam Ottavino.

Upon entering the game, Otto wasted no time in allowing the tying run, causing experts, analysts, and fans alike to wonder if the team would end up losing the game in the same fashion as the previous night.

The Yankee offense didn’t help matters either, scoring just one run via a Luke Voit solo home run that went oppo taco. Voit, by the way, is having a phenomenal season, leading the AL in home runs with 12.

Then, after shutting the Mets out in the ninth, the team looked to face former teammate and flamethrower to win the game. Fortunately, with a little help from an old friend, the New York Yankees did just that. You just can’t make it up.
