The Atlanta Braves will no longer see the Washington Nationals on the schedule this year, and Freddie Freeman could not be more disappointed.
The Atlanta Braves have thirteen games left on the schedule for this year. Unfortunately for Freddie Freeman, none of them are against the Washington Nationals.
Freeman wrapped up his abuse of the Nationals pitching staff yesterday and will end the 2020 campaign with a .371 batting average against them. Freeman loves hitting against the Nationals, and has racked up stout offensive numbers in the nine games they have played against one another this year.
On the season Freeman has ten home runs. He has hit five of those against the Nationals. His OPS against Nationals pitching is 1.333, the highest against any team this season.
Entering this season, Freeman had played in over 1300 games and not hit a grand slam. He has two of them this year, both against the Nationals. Of his league high 43 runs batted in, 15 have come at the hands of the Nationals pitching staff.
Not only are Nationals fans tired of seeing Freeman light up their team, Nationals pitchers are as well. Half of the intentional walks he has been issued this year have come while playing Washington.
By all accounts, Freddie Freeman is having a great year, and is leading a charge of several players who are raking the ball right now for the National League East Division leading Atlanta Braves.
Freeman is hitting over .400 against a couple of other teams this year as well, though the sample size is much smaller than his work against the Nationals. In ten games against the Philadelphia Phillies, Freeman is hitting exactly .400, though his power numbers and runs batted in pale in comparison to his work against the defending World Champions.
The man can hit against anyone, anywhere, at any time. Just seems like he does his best work against the Washington Nationals.
