San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. may be home earlier than he hoped, but he’s making the best of his free time. His mom is batflipping off him.

San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. isn’t the only one in the Tatis family with a flair for the dramatic.

While spending some time with his family, Tatis Jr.’s mom decided to show her son what pitchers feel like after he goes yard off them.

What an incredible scene. Mama Tatis spits on a bad pitch and starts talking trash. Fernando decides to challenge her on the next pitch. And she rips it to the corner of the yard.

More Padres. Tatis extension seems inevitable. light

But she doesn’t just put her head down and run the bases. No, that’s not the way things are done in the Tatis baseball family. She charges the mound, stands right next to the make-believe rubber, and unleashes a two full rotation batflip on her own son.

Just how Fernando does to the Major League pitchers he embarrasses on a nightly basis.

Well, I guess now we know where Tatis Jr. gets his swagger from. I would have assumed it came from his dad, who had a very nice 11 year Major League career. But that assumption would be dead wrong. Nobody pulls off a two-flip pimp job on their first batflip. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say that Mama Tatis has been batflipping off her son’s pitching since he was old enough to throw the ball straight. Her theatrics may have been the very reason why Tatis Jr. decided from a young age that his home on the diamond was at shortstop and not on the mound. Years and years of giving up dingers to your mom would surely ruin a young pitcher’s confidence.

Next. Padres still undecided about Mitch Moreland. dark

It’s good to see Tatis Jr. enjoying his free time though. Because he knows that come February, he’s going to be working his ass off to carry the San Diego Padres further than the divisional round of the 2021 postseason.
