Los Angeles Dodgers: Corey Seager owns Globe Life Field
Despite the fact that he plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Corey Seager is the home run king of Globe Life Field.
One would assume that, as Globe Life Field is the home of the Texas Rangers, a member of the Rangers would be the current leader in homers at the new ballpark. Naturally, given the craziness that is the 2020 season, that is not going to be the case.
Instead, that home run leader, if we count the regular season and playoffs, is Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager.
Over the course of their 30 games, the Rangers hits a grand total of 27 homers at home. Rougned Odor led the team with six homers at Globe Life Field, doing so in 21 games. Joey Gallo was the only other player to even hit five homers for the Rangers at their home park.
Seager, meanwhile, has turned the park into his personal launching pad. He has six home runs there in the postseason alone, tying Odor’s regular season mark in just nine games. Seager also hit a homer during his three games in Texas during the regular season as well.
Globe Life Field was initially expected to lead to a decrease in home runs. That was certainly the case with the Rangers, who were not nearly as prolific of a home run hitting team as they were in the past.
But someone forgot to tell Seager that. Instead, he has been destroying the ball during the postseason, his six homers nearly the total he hit during his 25 games at Dodger Stadium. Maybe a livelier ball is being used during the playoffs, but any idea that the Rangers’ new stadium would suppress power is being debunked. At least as it comes to Corey Seager.
The current home run leader at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, is not a member of the home team. Instead, with his homer on Wednesday, Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager has the crown.
