George Springer is one of the most sought after free agents this year and the Atlanta Braves seem to be the favorite to land him.

George Springer is going to get asked to the dance by a lot of teams. As the odds come in, one book seems to think the Atlanta Braves have the best chance of actually taking him.

As of now, Springer is on top of a lot of free agent lists as being the best position player available in this year’s crop. He currently sits on top of a lot of team’s wish lists as well. We have heard about potential suitors in the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox, though the Braves are sliding in as the presumed frontrunner.

The seven year veteran expectedly turned down the qualifying offer the Houston Astros offered and is now free to sign with another team. There is a slim chance he returns to the Bayou City, though the Astros had all year to negotiate a contract and failed to do so. It wasn’t like they couldn’t agree on a salary, word out of Springer’s camp is the team didn’t even begin talks during the season.

More Braves. A quietly solid move to start free agency. light

With Marcell Ozuna also hitting free agency (and to a lesser extent, Nick Markakis too), the Braves have a need to bring in a power hitting outfielder. For a team which was one win away from playing in the World Series, the window is still open to experience postseason success.

Winners of the National League East the previous three years, there is nothing standing in the way of the Braves winning the division again. The New York Mets seem to be big spenders on the open market as they have a new owner, and the Philadelphia Phillies have talented pieces but can’t seem to put the puzzle together.

Signing Springer would be a big splash for the Braves and send a message to the rest of the league they plan on being back in the playoffs for years to come.
