The Denver Broncos do not have a healthy quarterback for their game on Sunday. The New York Mets happen to have former Broncos QB Tim Tebow.

Sunday is going to be a very interesting day for the NFL. The Denver Broncos will head into their game against the Saints without a healthy quarterback on the roster, relying on a practice squad wide receiver who played the position in college to take over. This has the potential to be a complete disaster.

Magor League Baseball, meanwhile, is not exactly a haven for quarterbacks. There are some players who played football in high school, or maybe for a year or two in college, but rarely will an NFL quarterback be in the league. And then, we have the New York Mets and minor leaguer Tim Tebow.

Yes, the Mets have more healthy quarterbacks than the Broncos do at this time. Even more interesting is that Tebow was once the Broncos’ quarterback, even winning a playoff game in 2011 with the franchise. But his unconventional style of play, and general inability to throw the football, led to his not appearing in an NFL game after a stint with the Jets in 2012.

Tebow has not exactly done much more as a member of the Mets. While he was an All Star in the Eastern League in 2018, his career has stalled out in AAA. Tebow has a lifetime .223/.299/.338 batting line across 1048 minor league plate appearances, with 48 doubles and 18 homers, striking out 327 times.

He has not appeared in action since a lacerated finger ended his campaign in July 2019. Tebow was not a part of the Mets 60 man roster, nor was he sent to the instructional leagues in the offseason. However, he is not giving up on his major league dream and will be back once again this year.

This refusal to give up and his presence in the Mets system leads to a very unique moment. The Mets have an experienced NFL quarterback who has won a playoff game in their system. The Broncos, meanwhile, do not have any quarterbacks at all. This has to be peak 2020.

Maybe the Denver Broncos can give the New York Mets a call. They might be able to get their old quarterback to return.
