MLB free agency: Michael Brantley’s most logical fit? Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves have been the most logical fit for Michael Brantley since the start of the MLB offseason. They’re championship-capable, not intent on re-signing left fielders Marcell Ozuna or Adam Duvall and financially flexible enough to pay Brantley what he’s worth.

Brantley might not match the power production that Ozuna and Duvall provided. He would, however, upgrade Atlanta’s defense and afford their offense another relentless, consistent hitter.

The Braves’ lineup needs an additional left-handed bat for balance, plus Brantley would improve the contact rate of an offense that finished third in MLB in strikeouts a season ago.

Not to be overlooked is the 12-year vet’s experience factor. Having played in 38 playoff games, including seven in the World Series, Brantley knows what it takes to get to and excel in October. He could set an example for and provide wisdom to a myriad of young, determined Atlanta players.

Brantley could be extremely valuable to a championship-or-bust Braves ball club. Their front office should lose sleep at the thought of losing out on him this offseason.
