Mike Trout is easily one of the best players in major league history. The Los Angeles Angels outfielder has already put together a storied career, one that will end with his induction into Cooperstown as a first ballot inductee. Decades from now, older baseball fans will talk about Trout in the same reverential tones used when discussing Mantle and Mays today.
And yet, he may be about to get even better. Trout said that he figured out some issues with his swing that had held him back last year.
Good to hear @MikeTrout finally figured out that swing. 😳 pic.twitter.com/OAGdjcztcw

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout could get even better
If 2020 was a struggle for Trout, it is the type of struggle that any other player would have wanted. He posted a career worst 168 OPS+, his lowest in a full major league season, while hitting 17 homers and nine doubles in his 241 plate appearances. One can see why he would have been disappointed.
And yet, what could be considered a disappointing season was still excellent. Trout was third in the American League in homers, runs scored, RBI, and OPS+ while ranking fourth in on base percentage and slugging. His fifth place finish in the MVP balloting may have been the worst of his career, but virtually any other player would have considered those rankings a career season.
But Trout was not satisfied. He did not feel comfortable at the plate last year and his swing did not feel right. Perhaps this was due to the shortened year and the lack of a real spring training. Whatever the reason, Trout is now ready to become the force he expects to be.
Despite having spent a decade in the majors, Trout will be turning 30 years old this year. He is still in the midst of his prime, which is hard to believe given his already impressive resume. Yet, if Trout has figured out something with his swing, the best may be yet to come.
Mike Trout has fixed an issue with his swing that was affecting him last year. The Los Angeles Angels outfielder could get even better in 2021.
