Marcus Stroman rips New York Mets for starting game on Sunday
It was not a surprise that the New York Mets game on Sunday would be impacted by rain. However, that did not stop the team from beginning the contest despite the falling raindrops. Unsurprisingly, the game went into a rain delay in the top of the first.
The decision to start the game did not sit well with virtually anyone, including Mets’ starting pitcher Marcus Stroman. He vented his frustrations on Twitter, making certain that there was not any ambiguity in his thoughts about the attempt to start the game.
New York Mets waste Marcus Stroman for no reason
There was not any strategic reason for the game to begin. With the Mets as the home team, the Marlins were not going to waste a pitcher if the team decided to postpone the game after the top of the inning. Instead, it was Stroman who was wasted in the outing, throwing just nine pitches before the game was paused.
A simple look at the forecast would have been enough to say that the game should have been postponed. At 10:00 AM, the radar showed that rain would be coming through the area from gametime until later that evening. In fact, right before the game started, the radar showed that rain was imminent.
This was the type of nonsense that fans hoped would go away when Steve Cohen purchased the Mets. The dysfunction of the organization existed at every level, right down to postponing games, was supposed to go away. It was a new era, one that would lead to the Mets being run as a world class organization.
Instead, the Mets did what they always do. They managed to waste Stroman for no reason, putting the safety of both players in jeopardy until they figured out that maybe playing in the rain was a bad idea. Somehow, the giant puddle at short or the forecast for the rest of the day did not trigger the thought that this game never should have started. No matter what, the Mets are going to Mets.
The New York Mets wasted Marcus Stroman for absolutely no reason on Sunday. It is not a surprise that he was upset with that decision.
