The New York Mets need to figure out whatever they did to anger the baseball gods and rectify that situation.

Once again, their game has been postponed. This should not be much of a surprise as they landed in Denver in the midst of a blizzard, with this being their seventh postponement in just 16 days.

New York Mets just want to get on the diamond

The reasons for these postponements have run the gamut. Their opening series against the Nationals was postponed due to COVID, pushing the start of their season back by four days. Then the Mets battled rain in New York and Philadelphia. Now, they find themselves dealing with a snowstorm.

At this point, the Mets have to wonder what they did to anger the baseball gods. Perhaps they saw into the future before this season, and witnessed Michael Conforto sticking his elbow into the strike zone to force in a game winning run. Maybe they decided that the Mets cannot have too many nice things, and the Wilpon’s no longer owning the franchise meant that something else had to give. Or maybe they are upset that Bobby Bonilla Day has not yet been turned into a spectacle at Citi Field.

Regardless of the reason, these starts and stops have to be problematic. The Mets are unable to get into a real rhythm, as they have had almost as many postponements as games played at this point. Add in the seven inning doubleheaders, and it is not a surprise that the team has been scuffling.

Eventually, these games will get played. The Mets have a doubleheader on tap for Saturday, and those other games will be made up. That will lead into other issues, as the Mets will need to find a way to rest players amid a multitude of doubleheaders, but they need to actually get on the diamond first.

Next. Leaving Mets is a path to success. dark

At some point, the New York Mets will finally be able to get on the diamond. Until then, they are left to wonder how they ran afoul of the baseball gods.
