New York Mets: Tim Tebow attempting return to NFL with Jacksonville Jaguars
Just when you thought it was safe, he’s back. Former New York Mets minor league outfielder Tim Tebow is once again attempting a comeback, this time in the NFL.
According to reports, Tebow worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have discussed signing him. The catch is that this time, Tebow would be a tight end.

Tebow had last appeared in the NFL in 2012, appearing in 12 games as a quarterback for the Jets. He had signed with the Patriots in 2013 and the Eagles in 2015, but was released prior to the start of the regular season both times.
Following his failure to return to the NFL, Tebow announced that he would try his hand at baseball. He signed with the Mets, spending three years in their minor league system. While he did have his moments of success, such as hitting a homer in his first plate appearance at three different levels, he just could not sustain those moments.
Over the course of his three seasons, Tebow produced a .223/.299/.338 batting line in his 1048 plate appearances, hitting 18 homers and 48 doubles. He had issues making contact, as he drew 85 walks while striking out 327 times. However, he was an All Star in the Eastern League in 2018, and appeared to be making strides before breaking a hamate bone when he was hit by a pitch. One has to wonder how much of a difference that made.
Now, nearly a decade since he last appeared in a regular season NFL game, Tebow is attempting a comeback. There had been the thought that he should convert to tight end or fullback before his sojourn into baseball, but he had refused to change positions. However, with his former college head coach, Urban Meyer, now in Jacksonville, this may be his best chance at returning to the gridiron.
