The Arizona Diamondbacks were 14-12 at one point this season. They are now 20-51 as they continue to find new depths for their own personal rock bottom.

The Diamondbacks fell by a final of 3-0 at home Friday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers to set a new franchise record of 15 straight losses. At least this one came at home as the historic road losing streak lives on.

Diamondbacks continue to spiral

15 straight losses is bad enough. Then there are the 23 straight road losses. There is also a 3-30 stretch that extends into Saturday. Everything is awful right now and it is easy to feel bad for the fans, because there seems to be no easy way out of this.

Last Tuesday was a perfect illustration of this tortuous stretch. The Diamondbacks took a 7-0 lead early on the road against the San Francisco Giants. All they had to do was hold the lead to get everyone to stop talking about the embarrassing road losing streak.

Instead, the Giants rallied and a late grand slam gave them a 9-8 victory. The losing streak continued and the rest of the week was a snoozer, expect for those who like painful history.

The only realistic option now is just to sell every single veteran available. Arizona needs to start thinking about the future and we are not talking about 2022, but well beyond. This team is way behind the top of the division and it is hard to see the Giants, Dodgers, or San Diego Padres slowing down anytime soon.

Another change may be to boot Torey Lovullo out of the dugout. This stretch is not solely his fault, but something needs to be changed just to get the team focused again.

At some point it becomes fascinating to see how many games this team can lose in a row. However, the front office needs to actually do something to provide a spark and make sure the entire roster isn’t stunted by what could be a historically awful season.
