It is hard for any MLB fan to find something Shohei Ohtani cannot do. He will get a strikeout on the mound and immediately put on his helmet and hit a home run soon after.

The two-way legend finally got to step into the batter’s box at Yankee Stadium on Monday as his Los Angeles Angels are taking on the New York Yankees. He stepped onto hallowed grounds and immediately made it clear why people from all over the world tune in to see him play.

The two-way star clubs a home run at Yankee Stadium

Fans were still filing into the stadium when Ohtani sent yet another baseball into orbit. He is not pitching in Monday’s game, so that means his entire focus was on preparing for pitcher Michael King. Ohtani made quick work of him.

The home run gives him 26 on the year and we are still not even in July. This is truly something special and the fact he can do this seemingly at will shows why he is a generational player.

Doing this in New York is special because it is so easy to draw Babe Ruth comparisons. Well, fans in New York saw a Ruthian swing and home run courtesy of another two-way player. If Ohtani can stay healthy and be a two-way player for the next decade, it is impossible to predict his ceiling.

The Angels just learned that Mike Trout is now out beyond the All-Star break. While that could doom the Angels in most years, having Ohtani should have everyone in good spirits.
