The New York Yankees offense once again sputtered when faced with a somewhat decent pitching staff. They managed just seven runs over their three games against the Red Sox, getting swept as their issues continued to be pushed to the forefront. It has to be maddening for the fanbase to watch this team with obvious holes and a relatively lackadaisical attitude.
However, at least one member of the organization managed a big hit. It may have been the person driving their equipment truck, but it still counts, right?
New York Yankees get one big hit in Fenway
That’s just adding insult to injury. Because of the driver hitting that door, the Yankees equipment was stuck in Boston that much longer. Although they were heading for just a short trip down the highway to Yankee Stadium, one had to imagine that everyone in the organization wanted to get out of town.
That particularly had to be the case with the way the series ended. While the Yankees had a pair of tough two run losses on Friday and Saturday, they had to imagine that Gerrit Cole would give them a great chance to salvage at least one game. Instead, he allowed two homers in the first and was generally ineffective.
In a way, that accident was a perfect descriptor for the Yankees season. Even when things seem as though they are going well, something happens to disrupt everything. The offense and pitching staff had been riding high before this series only to see it all fall apart during their three game set in Boston.
The New York Yankees managed to have one big hit in Boston over the weekend. Unfortunately, it happened when the equipment truck got stuck.
