Los Angeles Dodgers: Trevor Bauer accused of assault, denies all allegations
Former Cy Young Award winner and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer is currently under investigation for assaulting a woman. On Tuesday, the woman filed and was granted a restraining order with the L.A. County Superior Court.
Bauer has vehemently denied all allegations and a statement was released by his attorney, Jon Fetterolf. Additionally, the Dodgers organization have also issued a statement of their own.
Fetterloff says through TMZ that there are messages “that show [the accuser] repeatedly asking for ‘rough’ sexual encounters involving requests to be ‘choked out’ and slapped in the face.” Meanwhile, the woman’s attorney, Marc Garilek, says his goal is to keep Bauer away from the woman while expecting criminal charges to be filed.
Fetterloff has also stated that Bauer and the woman haven’t spoken in at least a month in addition to not seeing each other in more than six weeks. Bauer meanwhile, has since vehemently denied all allegations, citing the encounter as nothing more than “consensual, rough sex with someone he met online.”
Trevor Bauer could face criminal charges, leaving his baseball future very much in doubt
Last season, the ace posted a 1.73 ERA with the Cincinnati Reds to win his first Cy Young Award. Over the winter, Bauer signed with the Dodgers for three years and $102 million guaranteed.
Throughout his career, Bauer has played for the Reds, Cleveland Indians, and Arizona Diamondbacks, making the World Series with Cleveland in 2016, falling to Chicago Cubs in seven games while losing both starts. This year with the Dodgers, Bauer has an 8-5 record with a 2.59 ERA.
All of that, however, is brushed aside when dealing with a matter as serious as this. Should Bauer have criminal charges brought upon him and is found guilty in any way, his future in baseball could be very murky and a suspension from the league would be the least of his worries.
The Pasadena Police Department is currently conducting the investigation.
